About me

Lisa is a veteran school leader who knows schools inside and out. She understands the range of student experiences in different schools and is committed to learning the particular elements that make each student thrive. A former high school English teacher, Lisa is an expert in guiding students to find their voices and confidence as writers. Today, Lisa draws upon her 30 years of experience as a school administrator and teacher to counsel families in their application processes to middle school, high school, and college.

From 2005-2014, Lisa worked with 8th graders and their parents at San Francisco Day School as the Director of High School Counseling. In 2014, she was appointed Associate Head of School at Phillips Brooks School in Menlo Park, CA, a role that included advising 5th grade families as they explored and applied to middle schools. Currently, in addition to serving as the Senior Strategy Advisor at Phillips Brooks School, Lisa works privately with a small number of families navigating 6th grade through college admissions across the United States. Prior to these roles, Lisa was an English and journalism teacher at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco and Cushing Academy in Massachusetts

Outside of her work with families and schools, Lisa serves three organizations that support student well-being, voice, and creativity. She is the Board Chair of Challenge Success, a Stanford-based nonprofit that partners with schools to elevate student voice and implement research-based, equity-centered strategies that improve well-being, engagement, and belonging. Lisa is also a trustee at Drew School, a San Francisco high school that empowers students to develop their individual voices, and at Narrative Magazine, a global online hub for writers and readers. She holds an M.A. and B.A. in English. Lisa hails from Connecticut and lives in San Francisco with her husband and two teenagers.
